BEIJING--Filipino-American Daniel Coakley shot down the swimming squad’s fourth national record in as many days Thursday as Team Philippines picked up the pieces of boxing’s stunning debacle at the Beijing Olympics here. An 18-year-old Hawaiian with the genes of Filipino Olympic immortal Teofilo Yldefonso, Coakley clocked 22.69 seconds in finishing sixth in the ninth heat of the 50-meter freestyle sprint, shaving eleventh of a second off his months-old RP mark of 22.80.
